Become a Member

Becoming a member of Soma Northwest Church is a commitment to join the Holy Spirit in forming a local church community that reflects the relationship between the Father, Son and Spirit. It is a commitment to personal growth in Christ-likeness. It is a commitment to love others in specific ways. It is a commitment to pursue peace and maintain unity. 

Here are the steps that are involved in becoming a member at Soma Northwest:

1. Complete Basics

Basics is an introduction to the story, beliefs, and practices that define Soma Northwest. It involves:

• Reading Our Beliefs.

• Listening to the following recordings:

  • What is the Church?

  • Spiritual Gifts for Unity and Maturity

  • Justice, Reconciliation, and the Gospel

  • Peacemaking

  • Generosity

  • What Does a Pastor Do?

You can complete Basics according to your own schedule.

2. Complete the Membership Questionnaire

3. Have a conversation with a Soma Northwest elder

Next, you will be invited to sit down with one of our elders for a brief interview. Don’t be intimidated — this is a great time for you to ask us any questions you may have about life in our church family. It’s also an opportunity for us to hear your story.

4. Finalize the Process

Once you have connected with our elders, we will collaborate with you to determine any final steps in the membership process. This could involve things like:

• Joining a missional community (MC)

• Stepping into service at Soma Northwest

• Getting baptized

5. Be welcomed as a new member

Following the completion of any final steps, we will invite you to come up front on a Sunday morning, voice your commitment as a member, and be welcomed by the congregation.
